i think 10 guys and myself did some nice remixes for a great Artist from Canada called K-os which is distributed by Universal Music Canada and managed by Nettwerk Music Group Canada. I really like the original work K-OS did on his Yes! Album but mostly i like the sound of his voice. i also remember his remix work for Feist.
i entered a contest at Indabamusic (january) - which is a great resource for remix contests - and decided to remix 5 or 6 out of 11 songs. After a huge contest we (the finalist of 11 contest) all received a message (02/21/2009) with a invite to join a session where we could upload our remixes.
we also got contracts signed them and sended them back to Nettwerk . They also received their mastered remixes at 02/21/2009 and 02/25/2009 via upload. at march we got a msg that nettwerk got all contrats. You can even buy the cd or mp3 on Amazon (i think the release date is 04/x/2009).
after a while (may) i returned to the indabasession cause i never received any cd or money. after reading all my sessionmessages i knew iam not alone :-) After several mails and postings our contact at nettwerk replyed that we will get the money soon…so after a while i wrote another comment at the idabasession again but this seems to be a onewayticket.
at july we got the msg
“Hey guys. We’re not sure exactly what’s going on, as each of you signed a contract directly with K-OS’ management and we haven’t been involved in the process. That being said, we want to make sure that you are all taken care of, so we are going to contact them ourselves and figure out what is going on, and when you can expect your payments. We’ll keep you posted… “
???wow!xxx?what?wtf? what is going on
ok indaba takes care of the problem. at june i received another msg by indaba that they are in the process of figuring out the situation involving your compensation…and it would be helpful if we had an email response to the following question: would you be willing to sing in an affidavit stating that you have not been paid for your work…”
again the first second my brain freezes but after a while i realize that the guys at indaba are really working hard on figuring out what is going on and what the story is.
dear nettwork
